FOOTHILL LANDS AT MIPTV WITH 5 NEW SERIES!
(Santa Barbara, CA - April, 2010): Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, Foothill Entertainment arrives in Cannes with five new series as well as an updated development slate. The new shows include a lively game show, two extraterrestrial sightings and some sophisticated 3D action among the new offerings this market!
Having recently inked a worldwide distribution arrangement with Ireland’s award winning format producer, Screentime ShinAwil (The Apprentice, Popstars and Dragon’s Den), Foothill is bringing their fabulous game show series and format, Test The Teachers (20 x 25’), to MIPTV. Enjoying its second season on RTE, this unique game show, where the students come up with questions, tasks and challenges to test the teachers from their rival schools, creates an opportunity for students to finally turn the tables and out-wit their teachers, while making them look a bit silly in the process. Kids and adults can play along and see if they can out-smart the teachers!
MIPTV 2010 will mark the market debut of Foothill’s new distribution relationship with France’s Toon Factory. Foothill has been tapped to represent the studio’s flagship series’ in North America and Australia including the highly-rated France 3/Canal J hit Samson & Neon(78 x 7’). Also in the package are Toon Factory’s other successes, Franky Snow, Brady’s Beasts and Kid Clones.
Hot on the heals of the entertainment industry’s numerous announcements about the popularity of 3D content, creator Simon Hodgkiss of SphDigital has elected to push the production of its Foothill-repped property, Raz & Benny, into the 3D realm. With a stereoscopic test currently in the works, this series about the larger than life adventures of two intrepid mice is the ultimate buddy comedy. Already visually stunning in top quality CGI, the addition of 3D will take Raz & Benny to new mouse-heights!
Foothill has pushed forward with development on My Momtourage and Me (26 x 25’) with a live action pilot script to be available by June 2010. Created by acclaimed Australian illustrator/writer, Kyla May, My Momtourage and Me focuses on the ever changing relationship between a teenager and her larger-than-life famous pop-star mom. “We really love the energy and comedy of this coming of age story”, says Jo Kavanagh-Payne, President of Foothill. “We are sure the stories will ring true with legions of ‘tween girls, the world over.”
Similarly, creative work continues on the extraterrestrial animated comedy Gunk Aliens based on the popular book series from HarperCollins Children’s Books. Picking up where the books leave off, the series will feature three young neighborhood alien fighters (and their robotic dog) battling to keep earth safe from an intergalactic invasion bent on taking all of Earth’s disgusting features like nose hair, toilet seats and underarm smells. Who knew these things (and more) are the ultimate power source for the galaxy?!!
New designs and an updated bible are available on the adorable pre-school series Gododo. To be co-produced by Canada’s Title Entertainment and Spain’s Neptuno Films, the Phew!! created property will integrate the running commentary of two young viewers who will be seeing the action for the first time and interacting with the characters. Designed in the latest state-of-the-art CGI, the unique and surreal look of the series has added to its international appeal.
Founded in September 2000 by former DIC Entertainment executive vice president of business and legal affairs, Gregory Payne and Jo Kavanagh-Payne, former Link Television Entertainment, Inc senior vice president of U.S. operations, Foothill specializes in the co-development and distribution of children’s and family entertainment programming. Their Company is based in Santa Barbara, California.
