FOOTHILL SEEKS TO BUILD ON SUCCESS OF MIPCOM JR.
(Cannes- 2006 April) At MIP-TV 2006, Santa Barbara based Foothill Entertainment, Inc. will seek to build on the tremendous success they enjoyed at 2005 MIPCOM and MIPCOM Junior. Having entered MIPCOM Junior for the first time, the screenings led to broadcast deals for the Seoul Movie produced animated feature, Toy Warrior, in Germany, Turkey, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The Company also was able to close deals for the delightful kids' live action series, Dress Up Box in the Middle East at that market. Foothill President, Jo Kavanagh-Payne, offered, "MIPCOM Junior was a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase our completed catalogue. There are a number of contacts made at the market that we are looking to advance at MIP-TV 2006."
Following the interest they were able to generate last fall, Foothill picked up an additional Seoul Movie title, the 26 x 25' animated series My Little Fox, the teen/ young adult CGI feature Elysium produced by Hanho Films and the live action costume series Wish-a-Roo Park (13 x 25') that aired successfully on PBS in the United States for several seasons. Foothill Chairman Gregory Payne added, "Our completed programming catalogue has increased tremendously in the past 6 months which has been a real boost to our business."
The Company will be looking to close deals for the acquisition by a major European company of the rights to Papageno Productions' pre-school property, Tutu Lulu; co-production financing for UK based Phew!! TV's Snapper animated series, the pilot for which has recently been produced by Malaysian studio Fat Lizard/POV and the optioning of the live action 'tween series Me and My Shadow by Australian production company Great Western Entertainment. "2006 is already shaping up to be a big year for us. Between our increasing sales activity and some real traction with several key development properties, we are busier than we have ever been," continues Kavanagh-Payne. "In addition, we are hoping to announce several significant transactions at the market which could really launch the company to another level."
Founded in September 2000 by former DIC Entertainment executive vice president of business and legal affairs, Gregory Payne and Jo Kavanagh-Payne, former Link Television Entertainment, Inc senior vice president of U.S. operations, Foothill specializes in the co-development and distribution of children's and family entertainment programming. Their company is based in Santa Barbara, California.
