Foothill Entertainment and Title Entertainment Announce Co-Development Deal
(Cannes- 2006 October) Canada's Title Entertainment and US-based Foothill Entertainment, Inc. announced today that they will be joining forces to co-develop and finance a Phew!! TV created property, Gododo, represented by Foothill. Foothill and Title will be collaborating to develop, produce and exploit multi-media programming for this visually unique property. "Frank Taylor, Dulcie Clark and their team really have always impressed us with their creativity and integrity on the shows on which they have worked," said Foothill President Jo Kavanagh-Payne. "We have been looking for some time to find a project to do with them and Gododo was the perfect fit."
Title Entertainment is an established producer of high quality animation programming. Lead by industry veterans Dulcie Clark and Frank Taylor, it is known as a steady and reliable partner on the Canadian animation scene, as is its sister company, PIP Animation Services Inc.. "We have been talking to Jo and Greg for several years and have been close on several projects. It is great that we have finally found a creatively strong property that we think will work very well in our local market and internationally," commented Taylor.
The brainchild of Ian Ellery and Guy Hallifax at the UK creative shop Phew!! TV, Gododo follows the hilarious exploits of the last Dodo on Earth. Despite reports to the contrary, there is one dodo still out there - somewhere. Yes, Gododo is far from extinct. He is alive and well, but thoroughly lost. Hardly helped at all by an inept narrator, Gododo and his companion Ducky follow the arrows. The arrows must lead somewhere, mustn't they? Of course they do! They lead to the next hilarious surreal adventure. They must mean something, mustn't they? Of course they do! They mean a lot of visual gags and great fun. The series is designed as 7-minute CGI shows for pre-school and up. A trailer was produced by DQ Entertainment.
Title Entertainment is an Ottawa-based production company active in both the animation and live-action fields. Their current animated series "The Secret World of Og", co-produced with Long Shot Pictures and Nova Scotia-based Helix Digital Inc. (a company co-owned by PIP) is airing this fall on CBC in Canada and distributed by CBC International Sales throughout the world.
Founded in September 2000 by former DIC Entertainment executive vice president of business and legal affairs, Gregory Payne and Jo Kavanagh-Payne, former Link Television Entertainment, Inc senior vice president of U.S. operations, Foothill specializes in the co-development and distribution of children's and family entertainment programming. Their company is based in Santa Barbara, California.
