FOOTHILL BRINGS NEW ‘FIRST LOOK’ RELATIONSHIP
TO MIPCOM
Foothill Entertainment, Inc. is pleased to bring to MIPCOM
several new children’s and family entertainment projects
including two new offerings representing the fruits of its
new first look deal with UK-based creative workshop, Phew!!
Inked shortly after the New York Licensing show in June, the
exclusive arrangement gives Foothill rights to all new properties
created by Phew!! in addition to the two projects Foothill
already represents for them, Food Chain
and Wilder West Tales. The first
projects being brought to the market by Foothill under this
new deal are Me and My Shadow and
Gododo.
Me and My Shadow is a hilarious
live action ‘tween comedy drama following 15 year old
Peter who wakes up one sunny morning and realizes that something
was different and very wrong: his shadow had come alive, but
as a 16 year old girl! And not just any girl, the bossy, opinionated,
stuck-up kind of girl. The ultimate Odd Couple, Peter and
Kimberly are seemingly stuck with each other, at least until
they can figure out how to get back to normal. But because
Kimberly is not really tangible, Peter has to hope that his
parents, friends and teachers do not think he is completely
crazy and simply talking to himself all the time! In the meantime,
they have to make the best of this strange situation. A unique
combination of live action with 2D and 3D special effects,
Me and My Shadow touches on all
those things that make growing up both funny and difficult.
Gododo is a new animation series
featuring the last Dodo on earth, which is on a surreal quest
to follow these strange arrows that seem to appear. Being
led absolutely nowhere in particular, Gododo falls into one
hilarious mess after another. With his trusty pal, Ducky,
the always optimistic but hopelessly lost Gododo
seems to be the butt of a wacky cosmic joke. Each episode
is filled with Monty Python-esque hilarity and gags. This
non-dialogue series is intended for the 6 to 12 year old and
up audience.
While the new arrangement with Phew!! has taken center stage
at this market, Foothill is also bringing to MIPCOM several
new family entertainment projects. A new live action feature,
Dog Dude is a great family comedy
which sees a black mutt rescued from the pound become the
marketing icon for "Dog Dude Xtreme Dog Füd,"
thus tossing him snout-long into a vicious custody battle
between a struggling blues musician, a bumbling advertising
firm, a pet food tycoon, and the boy who really loves him.
This hilarious comedy for the whole family is penned by acclaimed
Hollywood writer Robert P. Johnson (The Temptations, Bojangles,
Tyson). Dog Dude proves the
old adage: nothing can separate a boy and his dog…especially
fame.
Foothill is also pleased to bring to MIPCOM a unique new magazine
series, On Stage, which celebrates
the universal popularity of the legitimate stage. The On
Stage cameras will travel from Broadway to London’s
West End to Hollywood and beyond to bring you news and highlights
from the hottest shows in town. Live performances of great
plays and musical comedy have been enriching the entertainment
menu in places like Chicago with its venerable Goodwin Theatre;
Wisconsin with its Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Oregon
at the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. Performances at the new
Globe Theatre in London are still drawing record crowds just
as the original did in the 1600’s. With celebrity interviews
and news updates, On Stage will
go wherever great theatre has gone. The
On Stage anchors and field reporters
will bring this spectacular parade of live theatre to the
screens of avid viewers as a one of a kind, brand new weekly
television experience.
