Foothill brings its Momtourage to Mipcom

US distributor Foothill Entertainment is bringing the work of a top Australasian TV talent to the North American market for the first time at Mipcom next week.

New acquisition My Momtourage & Me is the work of Australian writer and illustrator Kayla May, whose credits include Smirk and G2G: Got to Go, currently in its first season run on Channel Nine. Foothill will be seeking both coproduction investment and presales for the series, which chronicles the life of a successful pop star's daughter being raised by a gaggle of her mother's assistants, or 'momtourage.'

"Since My Momtourage & Me kind of mirrors the Hollywood lifestyle, teaming up with a California-based company is a perfect fit," said May of her partnership with Foothill.

Foothill's other big push in Cannes will be its new take on arcade game brand Whac-A-Mole, which comprises a series of multi-platform products. An animated TV and web series will be rolled out at Mipcom, and plans are in place for a live-action reality-gameshow for a family audience.

Meanwhile, Foothill will be taking meetings along the Croisette with representatives from Korean studios in the hope of forging strategic alliances with companies from the country.

Foothill is hoping to work with the Korean companies both as a way to push its own catalogue into Asia and in order to bring Korean properties to its existing clients in the US and European markets.
