Odyssey Journeys Towards Kids TV
US media group Odyssey Pictures will provide funds for Foothill Entertainment's new children's shows, after the pair agreed on a co-development deal.
Under terms of the agreement, Odyssey, a Texas-based media financier that has been seeking to enter the kids' TV market, will provide Foothill with cash to fund development and gets first right of refusal to fund production. The first fruits of the deal are Gunk Aliens and My Momtourage & Me.
Gunk Aliens is based on a HarperCollins Children's Books franchise, while My Momtourage & Me is an original tween property about the daughter of a famous singer mom who longs for a normal life.
"This deal is part of Odyssey's path of expansion into the children's market," said Odyssey CEO John Foster. "By forging strong relationships with key players like Foothill, we accelerate our growth and take part in the crucial first step of content development."
California-based Foothill's president Jo Kavanagh-Payne added that "getting projects started the right way" was crucial for her company, which is best-known for shows such as Phew, Space Clowns and Boy & the Dinosaur.
