Foothill Lands in Cannes with New Prime Time Product

(Santa Barbara/ London — 7 April 2014) Foothill Entertainment, and its affiliate Foothill Europe Limited, brings to MIP-TV a prime time focus to its exciting mother-daughter comedy as well as new deals on a hit animated series.

Development continues on the hit series My Momtourage and Me with Foothill moving the project into a comedy primetime network orbit. Foothill has signed an agreement with hot Montreal-based producer Echo Media (co-producer with Sphere Media of the hit series 19-2 airing on Canada’s Bravo Network), a move destined to bring the series the high production values needed to meet global network expectations. Based on an original property, the series finds Eva Divine, the world’s most famous pop star, settling into a Las Vegas performing gig but having to also become a mother to her estranged 14-year old daughter who comes to live with her. Set amidst the glitz and glamour of the Strip, the series takes a comedy-drama look at a unique mother-daughter relationship.

Says Foothill President Jo Kavanagh-Payne, “MIP-TV will be a new launching point for our development projects and development slate this year. We have expanded our catalogue dramatically in the past few years with completed shows and the move to a prime-time genre for one of our series is hugely exciting.”

The Santa Barbara and London based company, continues its international sales efforts for approximately 1,600 episodes of children’s and family programming from industry powerhouse, Content Media’s extensive library. Two of these well known and exciting titles Young Dracula (now in its 5th season) and the multi-platform hit, The Cut, have garnered significant interest in numerous territories as well as for other well-known series such as Even Stevens and 100 Deeds For Eddie McDowd.

Having recently closed several major deals for the animated volleyball series Spike Team as well as the heartwarming Paralympics companion special Brent’s Dream, Foothill is looking to the Cannes market to cement additional sales that have percolated in recent months. Major deals have already been concluded in Russia and Venezuela for this series and special. Deliveries are rolling out for the second season (with a third season in production) of this series and special that has been a ratings success for RAI and other major territories. To add to this excited news, the Spike Team special has been doubled honored by being selected as an entrant at this year’s Annecy International Animation Festival as well as a competitor at the prestigious Cartoons-On-The-Bay in Italy.

Foothill’s Director of Sales and Development, Elizabeth Stephens will be taking a major role in the roll-out of the new Foothill development efforts as well as holding down a pivotal spot at the market on the sales side.
