The distributor is headed to Mipcom to present a pre-school favorite Toopy and Binoo, and the original comedy Boys Versus Girls.
Foothill Entertainment, and its affiliate Foothill Europe Limited, head to Cannes with two new animated series and a new distribution title in its ever-expanding portfolio.
MIPJunior will see the launch of the much-beloved animated series from Canada Toopy and Binoo. Already the recipient of multiple Gemini and Writers Guild of Canada Award nominations, including Best Pre-School Program or Series, this heart-warming production from Montreal’s Echo Media is based on the bestselling books from Dominique Jolin.
With two completed seasons, numerous interstitials and specials already available, this series features Toopy, the funny, friendly, impulsive mouse whose insatiable zest for life is matched only by this love for his best friend, Binoo. Binoo is a lovable cat who is logical, sensible and always thinks before he acts. This unlikely friendship is charming, endearing and above all entertaining.
The series emphasizes the kindness, friendship and respect in this childhood friendship but allows for learning in a fun way.
“Toopy and Binoo have a great following in Canada, and we are pleased that Foothill will be bringing these delightful characters and their escapades to a wider global audience,” says Echo President Luc Châtelain.
Also making its way to the MIPJunior market for the first time is the intergalactic comedy, Boys Versus Girls. A contemporary comedy that pokes fun at age old stereotypes, this CGI series highlights loveable characters, incredible music and unforgettable storytelling to deliver the simple messages of teamwork, friendly competition and cooperation.
While the Boys and Girls hatch hilarious hijinks and pull outlandish pranks in their quest to outdo one another, this competition gets put on hold when then they need to join forces in order to defeat the bigger threat to the Solar System…the evil but hapless robots of The Conformity!
Created by the UK’s Engine House 4D Limited and to be produced by award-winning 1461 Limited (producer of Boy and the Dinosaur and Rollie and Friends), this is a comedy series that is sure to resonate with viewers around the globe.
“MIPJunior and MIPCOM are always fun and dynamic markets for us,” said Foothill President Jo Kavanagh-Payne. “It is made all the more exciting when we can bring shows of this calibre and quality to Cannes.”
Rounding out the new acquisitions for the market, Foothill has been granted English speaking distribution rights to the fun and visually stunning 3D animation series Tex, produced by Spain’s award winning Neptuno Films. This series, produced in a unique cut-out style animation, has received rave notices in Europe, and is poised to bring its creative and heartwarming storytelling to more international viewers.
