Blinkx signs more indies

Channel X, Calon TV and Monster Distributes are among a number of new independent content companies to partner with online video search firm Blinkx. The UK and Ireland indies line up alongside 10 others including Endemol-backed MoMedia, US distributor Foothill Entertainment and Australia's Looking Glass International. The latest sign-ups take Blinkx to more than 220 partners and over 18 million hours of indexed programming, according to the firm, which is attempting to establish a lead in the nascent video search market. "Forget the movie theatre, Sundance, or even your TV - many of the most talented and innovative writers, producers and directors are bringing content directly to the internet," said Blinkx founder and CEO Suranga Chandratillake. "Blinkx is thrilled to serve as a vehicle for making this original, avant-garde entertainment easily searchable and available to viewers everywhere," he added, referring to the likes of Future Shorts, YoungCuts and ChannelFlip, which are also on board.
