Gunk Aliens Land On Foothill

The new UK office of Foothill Entertainment has teamed up with Canada's Huminah Huminah Animation to develop and coproduce the cartoon Gunk Aliens. The comedy adventure, planned as a 26x30' series, is based on the children's books from HarperCollins, and follows a boy and his young friends as they protect the Earth from messy, marauding ETs. The series will aim at boys and girls aged 6-11 and look to land pre-sales at Mipcom. "Gunk Aliens has all the elements that make for a classic property: it’s fun, deals with timeless themes like aliens, but also has the kind of wacky and gross appeal that kids in that age group all seem to enjoy," said Foothill president Jo Kavanagh-Payne. The US-based shop opened its UK branch, Foothill Europe, earlier this year with an eye for taking on more coproductions. Foothill is looking to boost its profile on the distribution and development scene, with help from its financial partner Odyssey Pictures. Its slate of reality and doc shows recently added the 15 episodes of Kings of France, a docu-drama that re-enacts history, and all five seasons of cop reality On Patrol. Foothill has also added the travel series This Is California. Sean Davidson 29 Sep 2011
